Starting Up

Macintosh systems have historically offered an easy startup process. Press a button on the keyboard or system; the Apple logo and the spinning starburst make their appearances, and then the OS finishes loading. With Mac OS X Version 10.2 Jaguar, the process works just about the same. (See Chapter 25 and Appendix A for more on setting up Mac OS X Version 10.2 and working with multiple users.)

Press the Power button (found near the upper-right corner of the keyboard or on the computer’s case) to start up the Macintosh. The system will power up, and the desktop will appear.
