Chapter 7.  Finding and Preserving Files... > Finding a File from the Finder Windo...

Finding a File from the Finder Window Toolbar

If you need to find a file or folder whose name contains a particular word or phrase, you can do so using a tool on the Finder window toolbar. The Search tool enables you to find Files or folders.

NOTE

If you upgraded your system to Mac OS X Version 10.2, the Search text box may not appear on the Finder window toolbar by default. Use the technique presented in the section called “Customizing the Finder Window Toolbar” in Chapter 9 to add the Search tool. Also, you may need to increase the width of a Finder window to allow the Search text box to fit on the toolbar. To do so, drag the size box in the lower-right corner of the window to the right.
