Chapter 25. Managing Users

You learned in Chapter 1 that Mac OS X was designed to accommodate multiple users. As you set up each new user on the system, Mac OS X Version 10.2 creates separate Home folders for each user and, basically, restricts that user’s hard disk access to his or her own Home folder and its subfolders. By employing this and other special features in Mac OS X Version 10.2, not only do you protect each user’s files but you also streamline each user’s ability to operate his or her system. In this chapter, you’ll learn how to:

  • Add or delete a user

  • Change a user’s password

  • Change a user’s administration privileges

  • Use keychain access

  • Turn automatic login on or off
