Now that you have an understanding of the differences between themes, visual styles, and skins and have taken a look at the various elements and some of the settings of the Windows GUI, we can concentrate on themes. Themes can actually provide you with a rather dramatic makeover of the Windows interface. The theme dictates the desktop icons, interface color scheme, and (more importantly) the image used on the Windows desktop. Because the desktop is the most prominent part of the interface, customizing the look of it can go a long way toward personalizing and customizing the overall look of Windows.
