Mac OS X was introduced, after much anticipation and even more hype, in the spring of 2001. Surprisingly, it has lived up to its hype. With Mac OS X, users have an operating system that is many times more powerful than older systems, completely modern, capable of handling the latest innovations in hardware, and as easy to use as any Mac system that has gone before.

And it just keeps on getting better. Every new version of Mac OS X—including this one, Tiger—has brought with it features that are exciting, fun, and useful. Tiger includes Dashboard, a new way of using myriad small programs called widgets; Spotlight, the best file search system ever; and an updated version of iLife that includes GarageBand, a fun new application that makes it easy to write your own music.
