Part 10. Getting an iLife > Sharing Photos on the Web

Sharing Photos on the Web

Click the album you want to share on a web page.

Choose Share, Export.

Click the Web Page tab in the Export dialog box.

Type a name for the web page and specify options for the page's layout.

INTRODUCTION

The best way to share your photos with friends and family all over the country or the world is to put them on the Web. iPhoto makes creating a web picture gallery easy. To share pictures, all you have to do is put the files that iPhoto generates on your .Mac home page or any other web space available and let everyone know the URL.

Color Sense

You might be tempted to get creative with the photo gallery's background and text colors, but be sure to pick a contrasting pair. White on black, black on white, or similar high-contrast colors are much easier to read than, say, light blue on soft gray.

What's in a Name?

iPhoto inserts the album's name in the Title field, but you can change the page title to anything you want. Because it's visible at the top of the document window, you have a little more room to work with than in the Album list in iPhoto's window.

Type the dimensions in pixels for thumbnail and full-sized images.

Click Show Title or Show Comment in the Thumbnail and Image areas to display text with the images.

Click Export.

Navigate to the location where you want to save the files; then click OK.
