Part 10. Getting an iLife > Adding Elements to a DVD

Adding Elements to a DVD

In iDVD, click Customize to open the drawer at the side of the window.

Choose a theme from the list.

Click and drag a movie file into the preview area that shows the main menu of your DVD. iDVD creates a button for that movie.

Click the button's name to change the text.

INTRODUCTION

DVDs have three types of elements: content, in the form of movies, photos, or other documents; navigation, in the form of folders that open to reveal menu screens; and interface, in the form of background images, sound effects, and the like. Adding these elements is incredibly easy in iDVD.

More Theme Choices

If iDVD's built-in themes aren't to your liking, you can purchase more themes online. A good place to start is www.idvdthemepak.com, where you'll find a selection of very cool iDVD ThemePAKs.

Supersizing Your DVDs

If your content won't fit on a 60-minute DVD, you can tell iDVD to create a 90-minute DVD instead. But to see this option, you have to add all your content at once so iDVD sees that it won't fit in 60 minutes.

If the current theme includes video buttons, click and drag the slider above the button to change the video frame that appears on the button.

Click Folder to add a folder.

Click the folder's name to change the text.

Double-click the folder's icon to view the submenu it represents.
