Part 10. Getting an iLife > Inserting Transitions and Effects

Inserting Transitions and Effects

To add a transition between two clips, click Trans and choose a transition style.

Set the duration and direction of the transition.

Click Preview to play the transition.

Drag the transition to the Clip Viewer and drop it into the point in the movie where you want it.

INTRODUCTION

After you've assembled your movie's raw footage by dragging clips from the Clip Shelf into the Clip Viewer, you can spice up the production by adding transitions between clips and applying special effects.

TIP

Controlling Transitions

Most transitions have just one control: Speed, or the amount of time the transition takes. Push, in which the new scene slides in from one side of the screen, also has a direction control that enables you to determine which way the scene moves.

To apply a special effect, -click to select the clips you want to apply it to.

Click Effects and choose an effect; then set the effect's options.

Click Preview to see how the effect looks.

Click Apply.
