Part: VII Appendixes > Integrated Installation

Integrated Installation

The process to install from an integrated setup CD-ROM is the same as installing Windows XP from the CD-ROM, as discussed in Chapter 3, “Installing Windows XP Home.” This procedure can be used on an existing Windows XP computer, as well as a new computer with a blank hard drive. However, this is a clean install, with only the default user accounts and no installed applications. It's not a way to upgrade an existing XP installation.

NOTE

Reinstalling XP over an old installation using the integrated version of the service pack does not require a new product key. If you are prompted for a product key, use the one with which the machine was originally activated.
