Editing Photos

The iPhoto application contains a few options for the editing of the images. For example, you can resize the image, perform enhancement, and retouching; even remove red eye (). Other features include the ability to convert the image to black & white, and perform adjustments to the image's brightness and contrast. It should be noted that iPhoto does not replace image-editing programs such as Adobe Photoshop; however, it does give you control over the image, and changes made are permanent. So, be careful when you adjust an image.

Edit Photos

Select a Photo Album, and then select an image to edit.

Click the Edit tab or double-click the image.

To rotate the image in 90-degree increments, click the Rotate button.

Click the Constrain pop-up, and then choose how you perform selection within the active image.

To crop an image, click and drag within the active image, and then click Crop.

IMPORTANT Cropping an object is permanent, unless you click the Edit menu, and then click Undo.

To perform automated enhancement of the image, click Enhance.

To remove red eye problems with the image, select the eye of a person within the active image, and then click Red-Eye.

To perform specific enhancement of the image, click Retouch, and then drag the brush over the area.

To convert the image into black and white, click B & W.

Drag the Brightness/Contrast sliders left or right to increase or decrease the brightness and/or contrast values of the image.

Click Previous or Next to move to another image in the selected album.

Click the Organize tab to save your changes and return to the Photo Album.

TIMESAVER To only view the last images imported into iPhoto, click the Last Import (icon looks like a roll of film). The iPhoto application displays the last images brought into the application.
