Chapter 7. Printing and Faxing > Creating a Cover Page

Creating a Cover Page

When you send a fax (), Panther now allows you to create a cover page. A cover page indicates to the person receiving the fax, the number of pages in the fax, who is sending the fax, the date and time the fax was sent, and a short text paragraph. Since the cover page represents how, and where the fax was sent, many companies require a cover page to be sent with every fax. In addition, the cover page acts as a protective cover over the fax, preventing others from reading sensitive material. On the other hand, some people feel the cover sheet is just a waste of a piece of paper. A good rule of thumb is use a cover page if the total fax pages equal five or higher. That way the receiver knows how many pages are coming his way. Since the decision to use a cover sheet is dependent on the document, Panther gives you the choice to add a cover sheet each time you generate a fax.

Create a Cover Page

Open a document that you want to fax.

Click the File menu, and then click Print.

Click Fax.

Select the Cover Page check box, and then type a short descriptive paragraph for the cover page.

Click Fax.

IMPORTANT You cannot press the Return key (to create a new paragraph) while generating the cover page text. Pressing the Return key only sends the fax prematurely. To get around this, create the cover page text in another application such as Microsoft Word, and then copy and paste it into the cover page field.
