Chapter 8. Exploring the Internet > Selecting a Default Browser

Selecting a Default Browser

Mac OS X Panther comes with Safari as the default Web browser. If you prefer to use another browser, you can remove Safari from your computer, install another browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape, and set it as your default Web browser program. When you click links in other applications, such as Mail messages, or double-click a Web Internet Location file icon, your default browser launches and opens the Web page in a new window or tab in the current window.

Select a Default Browser

Click the Safari menu, and then click Preferences.

Click General.

Click the Default Web Browser pop-up, and then select a Web browser.

Applications area, click the In A New Window or In The Current Window option.

Click the Close button.

Click the Safari menu, and then click Quit Safari.
