Chapter 11. Exploring .Mac Services > Syncing a .Mac Address Book

Syncing a .Mac Address Book

When you're working with the .Mac Address Book there is an excellent chance that you've already typed all your contacts in the Address Book application. Why would you ever want to type those names in a second time… and what about changes? What if one of your friends changes his or her address: Do you have to make that change in the .Mac Address Book, the Address Book application, and so on? Not really. All you have to do is set up the iSync utility, and it does all the work of keeping your various contact lists up-to-date ().

Sync a .Mac Address Book

Open the Applications folder, and then double-click iSync.

Click the .Mac button.

NOTE The first time you use iSync, your options differ.

Select the Turn On .Mac Synchronization check box.

Select or clear the Automatically Synchronize Every Hour check box.

Select your sync options.

Click the Close button.

Open your browser, and sign onto your .Mac account.

Click the Address Book link, and then click Preferences.

Select the Turn On .Mac Address Book Synchronization check box.

Click Save.

Reopen the iSync application, and then click the Sync Now button to perform a sync between the selected applications.

Click the Close button on the iSync application.

Your .Mac Address Book is now synced.
