Managing .Mac Mail

Once you've set up your System Preferences, you are now ready to receive and send e-mail to other .Mac members, or to anyone with an Internet e-mail address. Since .Mac Mail is essentially run through your browser application, you'll want to own a reliable browser. When you installed the Panther operating system, it came bundled with the Safari browser.

Manage .Mac Mail

Open your browser, sign on to your .Mac account, and then click the Mail link.

Click Get Mail to check for e-mail.

Click on an e-mail in your Inbox to open and read it.

If necessary, respond to an e-mail.

Click the Back button on your browser to return to the main .Mac Mail screen or click the Inbox link.

Click Compose to write an e-mail, and then click Send.

Click Preferences.

Select from the following options, and then click Save (located in the lower right-hand corner of the window.

  • Composing

  • Viewing

  • Account

  • Check Other POP Mail

  • Leave Messages On Server

Click Mail to return to the main .Mac Mail menu.

Click Logout to return to the .Mac Home page.
