Setting Up .Mac Mail

Once you're registered as a user, all of the advantages of the .Mac site become instantly available; including the ability to read and send e-mail from you new mail account. The .Mac Mail service gives you a way to keep in touch with friends, family, and clients at home, or wherever you travel. And you don't even have to have your own computer. You can access, read, and save your e-mail using any computer, anywhere, through the www.mac.com Web site. To begin receiving and sending e-mail messages, you'll first have to set up your Macintosh.

Set Up .Mac Mail

Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click the .Mac icon.

IMPORTANT If you haven't registered on the .Mac site, you'll see the Internet icon. Once registered, it's renamed the .Mac icon.

Click .Mac tab.

Type your .Mac member name and password.

Click the Close button.

Point your browser to http://www.mac.com.

If necessary, click the .Mac tab.

Click the Mail link, verify your password, and then click Enter.

Click Preferences.

On the .Mac menu bar, click Account, and then select Add or Create Account.

Click the Account Type pop-up, and then select .Mac.

Type your .Mac member name and password.

Click Submit.

Your .Mac account and computer are now ready to send and receive messages.
