Task 5: Creating Network Shortcuts in My Network Places

In the My Network Places window, click the Add a network place link.

The Add Network Place Wizard opens. Click the Next button.

Select Choose another network location, and click Next.

Click the Browse button to locate the computer, drive, or folder for which you want to create a shortcut.

INTRODUCTION

If you find yourself constantly rooting around in the My Network Places window to locate a particular computer, drive, or folder, you might want to create a shortcut to it. This shortcut can point to any computer, drive, or folder on the network.

Refer to Task 3, “Browsing Shared Files,” if you need help opening the My Network Places window.

Creating Shortcut to Web Pages or FTP Sites

You can create shortcuts to Web pages or FTP sites. Simply enter the URL of the page or site in the Internet or network address box on the window shown in step 4.


Navigate to the computer, drive, or folder to which you want to create a shortcut. Select it and click OK.

Click Next to continue.

If asked, type a name for the shortcut (or leave the default), and click Next.

Click Finish.
