Chapter 11. Setting Up Accounts and Main... > Protecting Files with a Password

Protecting Files with a Password

If you have files that contain sensitive information on a shared computer, network, or removable disk, or if you want to send confidential files in an e-mail message, you can compress the files in a folder and assign a password. You need the password to open the files, so don't forget it.

Compress and Protect Files

Select the files you want to protect.

Right-click the selected files, point to Send To, and then click Compressed (Zipped) Folder.

Double-click the compressed folder.

Click the File menu, and then click Add A Password.

Type a case-sensitive password.

Re-enter the password.

Click OK.

Click the Close button.

To access the compressed folder, double-click it, double-click a file, type a password, and then click OK.
