Changing Viewing Options in Windows Explorer

The Windows Explorer interface is used in many parts of Windows XP, including My Computer, My Documents, and My Network Places. Windows Explorer is the main interface for creating and managing folders and files stored on a computer; it is used whenever you open or save a file within a 32-bit Windows application. You can make file and folder management more intuitive for your users, and more effective and efficient for you, by learning how to adjust the configuration of Windows Explorer.

This chapter covers many of the advanced options in Windows Explorer, including how to select and configure the different file and folder views available, efficiently perform searches, change file associations, and troubleshoot some of the common problems you might encounter.
