Chapter 18. Using the Network > Sharing Web Folders

Sharing Web Folders

If you have installed Internet Information Services on your computer, then Web Folder sharing is available by default. When you view a folder's properties on a computer running IIS, the Web Sharing tab is displayed, as shown in Figure 18.19, and you can use it to make the folder available to people who access your computer using a Web browser. Then

  • Visitors who use the shared folder's URL will be able to read and download the files—this is an instant way to publish Web pages.

  • Visitors using Internet Explorer's “Open as a Web Folder” feature will be able to view and modify files in this folder, if they have permission.
