Chapter 31. Troubleshooting Common Windo... > Using the Microsoft Knowledge Base

Using the Microsoft Knowledge Base

One of the most valuable resources that you have for troubleshooting problems on your system is the Microsoft Knowledge base. The Knowledge Base comprises a set of articles that provide solutions to various technical problems, explain how to perform product-related tasks, and answer commonly asked support questions.

You can search the Knowledge Base by going to the Microsoft support Web site (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx) and clicking the Search the Knowledge Base link. When you define your search criteria, you can select a Microsoft product; search for a specific topic, keyword, phrase, or article ID; select how the search will be conducted (for example, search the exact words as entered); limit how many articles are returned in a result set; determine which parts of the articles should be searched (the entire article, the title, or just the article ID); or define the date range based on when the articles were last modified.
