Using Driver Rollback

If after installing a device driver you find that the driver did not work, has caused system instability, or caused another problem, you can easily replace it with the previous driver using driver rollback. You can accomplish this task by following these steps:

1.
Open the Device Manager.

2.
Expand the device type to display the device driver that is not functioning.

3.
Select the device.

4.
Right-click the device and choose Properties from the pop-up menu. The General device property page will be displayed.

5.
Select the Driver property page as shown in Figure 27.6.

Click the Driver Rollback button.

7.
You will be prompted for confirmation that you want to replace the existing driver with a previous version.

8.
Click the OK button to install the previous version of the driver, or Cancel to continue using the existing driver.

9.
Click the Close button to return to the Device manager.
