File, Printer, and Network Security

Another important way to secure your system is to use the NTFS file system on your hard disks, which provides the ability to control access to files and folders on a user-by-user basis. This is important not only to protect your personal and corporate files from inappropriate browsing, but also to protect Windows itself. In addition to user-level security, NTFS supports encrypted files, for even greater security.

In addition to increased security, NTFS offers significantly increased reliability over the older FAT16 and FAT32 file systems; lost clusters after a crash or power failure just don't occur with NTFS.
