Mixing Macintosh and Windows OSes

As a system admin or just a power user type, you may have the need to work with Mac software or files in addition to the usual plethora of PCs you most likely administer. This section discusses means by which you can transfer files between Mac and XP, and even a way you can essentially “dual-boot” between XP and the Mac operating systems, using Mac OS emulation software.

Mac-to-PC File Conversion

Let's start with file conversion, which is a common need if you work with data files created in both environments. As you probably know, the Mac can read and write PC disks, so that is one way around the hassle of file exchange. Just give the colleague a formatted PC disk and ask him or her to copy the files you want onto the floppy. Then stuff the floppy back into your PC and read the file(s).
