Scheduled Tasks

Scheduled Tasks, which I prefer to call the Task Scheduler, is found in the Control Panel and in the Start menu under All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Scheduled Tasks.

TIP

The Task Scheduler can not only run a program based on time and date, it can also run scripts or programs when the system boots, when a user (any user) logs on, or when the system is idle. How is this different from putting a script or program in the Startup group for All Users? For one thing, the Task Scheduler lets you specify the security context—the logon name and password—to use for this task. For example, whenever a user logs on, you can have the Scheduled Tasks run a program with Administrator privileges to record information in a protected file.
