Scripting Languages

Scripts themselves are text files that you can edit with a simple text editor such as Notepad. In the text files are instructions written in a scripting language. There are several languages you can choose from, depending on your preferences. I'll describe the options in this section.

Windows XP and Windows 2000 come with two script language interpreters: VBScript and JScript. You can do pretty much anything you'd want to do with either one of these. There are other powerful scripting languages, though, and you are free to add them to Windows Script Host. In this section, I'll list the most common scripting languages currently available.
