Chapter 10. Sending E-mail with Outlook ... > Handling Unique Mail Situations

Handling Unique Mail Situations

Outlook Express 6 has features that go well beyond the most common e-mail-related tasks of reading and composing mail, addressing and sending messages, or using the Address Book. For example, you might have more than one e-mail account. You can set preferences for these accounts, choose to keep them separate, or to bring them all into the same OE Inbox. You’ll also learn ways to organize and filter your mail, check your mail while traveling, and how to make an alternate back-up location for the mail you want to save and protect. In this section, we’ll describe these more advanced situations and capabilities. Even if you don’t intend to use these features, skim through the sections just so you know what features are available. Once you know what features are built in, you might want to come back and try them out later.

Modifying an Existing E-mail Account

After setting up an e-mail account or two, you might find that you’d like to change a few things, such as the server name, password, connection preference, and more. To do this, go to Tools, Accounts, click the Mail tab, and click Properties. Poke around in here to see all the characteristics that you can change.
