Troubleshooting

Not Enough Slots

I don’t have enough slots for multiple monitors. What should I do?

Some video display cards support more than one monitor; they have a connector for each monitor. If you need single-slot support for two monitors, try ATI’s RADEON VE (www.ati.com), Appian Graphics’ Appian Hurricane (based on the RADEON VE chipset— www.appian.com), Matrox’s Millennium G450 and G550 (www.matrox.com/mga), nVidia’s GeForce2 MX-based cards such as the ELSA GLADIAC 511PCI and 511TWIN (www.elsa.com), and Hercules 3D Prophet II MX Dual Display (www.Hercules.com). If you need support for up to four monitors, Matrox G200’s Multi-Monitor cards are available in versions that handle two or four monitors per card. Appian Technology’s 2-port and 4-port Jeronimo Pro cards (www.appiantech.com) are also available. With two 4-port and one 2-port card, you could get 10 monitors in three PCI slots or an AGP slot and two PCI slots. Check the Windows Hardware Compatibility List for details of the latest cards that support multiple monitors all in one card.
