Customizing the Mac OS X Desktop

Although the default Mac OS X desktop is very nice to look at, you will probably want to customize it to suit your preferences. You can also change the way in which the Finder works as well. You can customize the appearance of your desktop in the following ways:

  • Change the items displayed on the menu bar, such as the Clock

  • Change mounted disk behavior

  • Show or hide file extensions

  • Change icon size and arrangement

  • Set a desktop picture

  • Change general appearance aspects of the desktop
