Chapter 23. Understanding and Using Data... > Using the Apple SuperDrive

Using the Apple SuperDrive

Apple's SuperDrive is a special case because along with CD-RW and CD-R discs, it can also burn DVD-R discs that can be played in consumer DVD players. When it was first released, this drive was available only on the top-of-the-line Power Mac G4. At some point, this drive might become available on other Mac models; third-party DVD-R drives are also available.

To create a DVD using an Apple SuperDrive, you can use Apple's free iDVD 2 application (included with machines that have a SuperDrive) that enables you to drag QuickTime movies, images, and other multimedia files to create a custom DVD, including DVD menus.
