Configuring High-Speed IDE Drives

You've installed a high-speed disk controller and connected your hard disk to it, but afterward your system seems slower, not faster.

High-speed Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) controllers, also known as ATA-66 controllers, double the burst speed of a hard disk, from 33MB per second to 66MB per second. For the drive to work at its top speed, however, you must meet all these conditions:
