Troubleshooting

Common Ethernet Hardware Problems

I installed a combo Ethernet card, but it can't detect the rest of the network. What's wrong?

A combo card is a card that has both an UTP port for 10BASE-T UTP Ethernet cable and another type of connector (either a 15-pin or BNC barrel-shaped connector) for older types of Ethernet cabling. If the card was previously used on an Ethernet network that didn't use 10BASE-T cable, you must reset the card for use with UTP cable. To reset the card, you will normally need to download and run a setup program made by the network card vendor.
