Secrets of the Windows Masters: Using the Windows Clipboard with the MS-DOS Prompt

When you work in an MS-DOS window, standard Windows keyboard shortcuts don't apply and Windows menus obviously aren't available. But that doesn't mean you can't use the Windows Clipboard in a DOS window—you just have to master a different technique.

Just as in Windows, before you can copy text, you must select it. Selecting text in an MS-DOS window requires techniques that are generally different from those you use in a Windows program, and the procedures aren't always intuitive.
