Speeding Up Web Connections

At one time, turning off the browser's support for graphics and video clips were the favored techniques for speeding up Web access. Today, though, with fewer and fewer sites offering prominent text links and high-speed Internet access becoming more and more popular, turning off the display of graphics and video content will make it difficult for you to navigate many of the most popular Web sites. Although good Web design calls for text equivalents of graphic or scripted menus, many designers create pages loaded with eye candy, a term for graphic effects and animations that dazzle the eye, after your browser has loaded them.

However, IE offers other ways to speed up your browsing, as you will see in this section.
