Getting Along with Netscape and Other Browsers

Many users of Netscape Navigator and other browsers will download and install these browsers on their Windows Me computers. To coexist with these browsers, use the following IE 5.5 features:

  • If you install another browser and want it to be the default instead of IE, follow these steps:

    1. Open the Internet Options dialog box and select the Programs tab.

    2. Deselect the check for IE as default browser option.

  • To share Netscape bookmarks with IE, follow these steps:

    1. Determine the location of your bookmarks file (bookmark.htm).

    2. Open IE's File menu and select Import and Export. This starts the Import/Export Wizard.

    3. Select Import Favorites.

    4. You can import your bookmark file, or import the current defaults in use by your browser (import from an application).
