Secrets of Mastering the Windows Me Environment: Organizing Your Media Environment with Playlists

Windows Media Player lets you create playlists that organize your music, but getting music from your CD to a playlist can be tricky. Here's a good method:

  1. Select the Media Library button.

  2. Click the New Playlist button.

  3. Enter the name of your playlist.

  4. Insert your music CD.

  5. Click the CD Audio button.

  6. Your CD's tracks are displayed.

  7. Get or enter the CD tracks.

  8. Select Copy Music to convert the tracks to digital (WMA) format.

  9. After the tracks are copied, click the Media Library button.

  10. Select the album you just copied.

  11. Click and drag to select all or some of the songs in the album.

  12. Drag the selections to your playlist.
