Chapter 28. Managing the Windows Address... > Using Address Book with Outlook 2000

Using Address Book with Outlook 2000

If you're currently using or plan to use Outlook 2000, you'll be glad to know that Windows can neatly share its Address Book with Outlook 2000. Using this option turns Address Book program into a viewer that opens Outlook 2000's Contacts folder instead of the WAB data file. If you already have Outlook 2000 installed when you upgrade to Windows Me, most of the configuration details will be handled for you. If you perform a clean install of Windows Me and then install Outlook 2000, however, you might need to do some tweaking to ensure that the two programs work together properly.

Upgrading to Windows Me over Outlook 200

If you already have Outlook 2000 on your system and then upgrade to Windows Me, Address Book will automatically be configured to save all contact information in Outlook 2000's Contacts folder. This means that any new contacts you create in Address Book will appear in the Contacts folder, and vice versa. However, this option does not automatically import your addresses from the WAB file into Outlook 2000. Be aware of the following potential gotchas if you plan to link Outlook 2000 and Outlook Express.
