Secrets of the Windows Masters: Using Fonts On-the-Fly

If you have a large font collection, chances are you've installed fonts you've never used or that you use only occasionally. Having too many fonts installed on your system can overstuff the Fonts list in application windows, making it difficult to locate the fonts you do use regularly.

A little-known and undocumented Windows feature enables you to work around this limitation in a very clever way, by temporarily installing fonts when you need them. This trick works because Windows loads a font into memory whenever you open it in a Preview window.
