Stopping Viruses

Every week, I send out a free Windows newsletter via email (you can sign up by visiting my Web site at http://windows.about.com/library/blnewsletter.htm). Invariably, I get automatic replies from people who are out of the office. I also get letters, some thanking me, some calling me an idiot because of something I said (or didn't say). And every so often I get an email virus.

The sender usually doesn't even know his system is infected with a Trojan horse program that has taken over his copy of Outlook Express, but this nasty piece of software works by automatically replying to email he receives or emailing more copies of the virus to randomly selected people in his address book. Because I use a reliable antivirus program and keep it up to date, I can detect and remove the virus immediately, before it can do any damage to my computer or begin passing itself to others, as if it were coming from me.
