Using ScanDisk to Find and Fix Disk Problems

The old but reliable Windows ScanDisk utility (Scandskw.exe) serves two functions: The Standard mode quickly checks for errors in files or folders, whereas the Thorough option inspects the entire disk for physical damage. Note that if you try to run the MS-DOS version of Scandisk (Scandisk.exe) under Windows, the operating system automatically loads the Windows version instead.
