Secrets of the Windows Masters: Setting Up a Personal Firewall

As you learned earlier in this chapter, personal firewalls protect your computer by blocking incoming access to and outgoing traffic from logical ports built into the TCP/IP protocol. Because Windows Me doesn't have a firewall feature built in, third-party solutions are mandatory if you want to make your home or small-office computers as secure as possible.
