Finding Information on the World Wide Web

How many pages exist on the World Wide Web? No one can say for sure, but as of early September 2000, Northern Light, a leading search engine, had more than 313 million pages in its database, and the number is growing every day. How do you find specific information in the billions of words and hyperlinks on all those pages? That's where search engines come in.

Internet Explorer offers one-click access to several popular search engines through an Explorer bar that works much like the Favorites bar.
