Customizing Mouse and Keyboard Settings

Do you take your mouse for granted? Most people do, despite the fact that they point, click, double-click, and drag thousands of times each week. You might not need to adjust the basic settings for your mouse, but it can't hurt to experiment. In particular, adjusting double-click speeds and acceleration can significantly improve your comfort level and productivity. All the settings I describe here are available from the Mouse Control Panel option.

Tip

Your mouse might include extra software that enables custom features. Microsoft's retail mouse products, for instance, come with IntelliPoint software, which adds several extra tabs to the Mouse Control Panel. This software usually isn't available if your Microsoft mouse was bundled with your PC. If your retail mouse is several years old, it might be time for a software update to make it work properly with Windows Me. The following URL has the latest software for Microsoft mice:
