Adding Internal Adapters

The Windows Me Plug and Play feature, assisted by the Add New Hardware Wizard, makes it easy to install an internal adapter card. Sound boards, graphics cards, network cards, SCSI cards, and internal modems are all common add-in card installations.

Installing an Internal Adapter

You must exercise caution when working inside your system. Rough handling or incorrect installations can damage delicate leads and electronics, rendering your PC inoperable. You should always unplug your system before you open the case to ensure that a power spike does not damage components during installation. This is especially important because most recent systems are actually in a "sleep" mode rather than being fully turned off when they're plugged into a wall outlet.
