Putting Favorite Programs on the Quick Launch Bar

Over time, as you install new applications and utilities, your Programs menu becomes cluttered with dozens of subfolders, and you'll find that you must click four or five times and search through submenus to get to the programs you use every day.

For the handful of programs you use most often, the Quick Launch bar—introduced to the Windows interface in Internet Explorer 4.0—is a far more efficient way to get to your favorite programs. By default, the Windows Me Quick Launch bar appears just to the right of the Start button and includes only four icons: a Show Desktop button, which minimizes all open windows so you can see icons on the desktop, plus shortcuts for Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, and Windows Media Player. Each icon takes up only a tiny amount of space and gives you one-click access to the programs and documents you use most often.
