Can I install DirectX 2.0 on a Windows 98 system?

You will run into trouble if you attempt to install Microsoft DirectX 2.0 or a program that includes DirectX 2.0 on a Windows 98 system. Doing so may disable your video adapter or sound card. DirectX 2.0 is not compatible with Windows 98. If you find yourself in this situation, you can install a DirectX 5.0 video adapter and sound card driver from the Windows 98 CD-ROM.
