Using Audio Tools in Windows

Windows 98 provides a variety of tools to let you play, edit, and create audio files. In addition to maintaining the familiar Windows 95 tools, Windows 98 introduces new tools, such as the ActiveMovie control.

PC-based audio comes in two forms: wave audio and musical instrument digital interface (MIDI). Wave audio, or WAV files, are digital representations of analog sound. When you record speech or music to the hard disk, for example, the resulting file is a wave audio file.
