Changing the Appearance of a Folder's Contents

Display options let you control how icons appear in an Explorer window. You can choose the size, arrangement, and order of icons, and you can also specify whether Explorer should show or hide system files. The options described in this section work the same way in folder windows and in the contents pane of Windows Explorer.

Icons, List, or Details: Choosing a View

Windows lets you choose from four icon arrangements when displaying the contents of a folder. Each view has advantages and disadvantages under given circumstances. To apply a new view to the folder currently displayed, choose View and then select one of the following choices:
