Installing and Configuring a Network Adapter

The network adapter is your critical link to the network. It is the physical connection of your computer to the actual network cabling.

As already described in the section on Plug and Play devices, when the system is powered up again, Windows 98 detects the new hardware and the protocols running on the network wire, installs the NDIS drivers, and configures a Plug and Play network adapter automatically.
