VBScript Objects

The flow control and predefined functions provided with VBScript give you the basic tools to control a script's execution and to manipulate strings, numbers, and dates, but they don't provide any way of interacting with Windows, files, or application software. Those functions are provided by objects— add-on components that extend VBScript's internal capabilities.

In the most general sense, objects are little program packages that manipulate and return information. They're the software representation of something tangible, like a file, a folder, a network connection, or an Excel document. Objects have properties that describe the attributes of the thing they represent and methods that enable you to alter or manipulate the thing.
