Using the Help System

"Earl Gray tea, hot," says Picard. And that's what he gets. Despite all the advances in PCs and PC software, until we have one that's as smart as the computer on the USS Enterprise in Star Trek, we're going to need help.

By now, we've all tried to use Help systems in Windows and in Windows programs. Do they work? Well, sort of. With a little digging you can often come up with something useful or interesting, or at least something that might send you looking in the right direction. In the worst of programs, help consists of repeating the obvious: "The File menu is used for opening and saving files." Great.
